Through a project named Smiles for Luuka, we are working together with our partners, in government aided schools to improve on the access to quality education for both boys and girls.
“You cannot make people learn. You can only provide the right conditions for learning to happen.” Vince Gowmon
Our focus is on improving the conditions of these schools so that they can be safe places for the children (both boys and girls) where they are comfortable and not afraid to come. This is done though the following ways:-
- Promotion of Right to Education: We are improving access to quality learning through creation of Child-rights clubs, community awareness and sensitization activities, creation of school libraries and promotion of extracurricular activities
- Promotion of girl child Right to education through sensitization , Focus Group Discussions, distribution and training in the making of reusable Sanitary Pads
- Promotion of WASH programs through construction of latrines and girl’s washrooms and improved access to safe water
- Renovation and reconstruction of Government aided schools
- Promotion of co-curricular activities including learning trips for learners and teachers
- Sponsoring of bright but very underprivileged students to further their education.
- Socio-economic empowerment of the community to be able to sustain themselves and keep the children in school
